Security
The Security ISO is responsible for
Security policy, planning, and
design in all areas. Note that the
implementation of security in any
technical area such as networking or
applications is the responsibility
of the people in each technical
branch.
Incident response: If there is a
security related incident in any
technical area, the ISO takes
control of the necessary technical
resources and directs the response.
FBI CJIS division mandated
auditing: The ISO is to ensure that
all agencies accessing criminal
history information comply with the
CJIS Security Policy and each agency
is audited at least once every three
years. There are over 200 law
enforcement and Civil Name Check
agencies that require auditing. DPS
is audited by the FBI once every
three years and the ISO is the main
technical liaison.
Security awareness training:
Performing security awareness
training for all DPS employees and
contractors at least once every
