Civil Name Check Program
Application for Civil
Name Check Account
The Civil Name Check (CNC) Program is designed to provide criminal history
record information to authorized Repository
users based upon an inquiry made by name and numeric identifiers rather than
fingerprints. Pursuant to provisions contained in Nevada Revised Statutes,
chapter 179A, Nevada records are available to a multitude of both criminal
justice and non-criminal justice requestors. Nevada Criminal Justice Information
System (NCJIS) policy allows the release of information, when authorized by law,
upon a written request identifying the subject of inquiry by full name, date of
birth, or other numeric forms of identification. Releases must be accompanied by
a disclaimer concerning the reliability of the information released.
Goals of this program are:
- To provide timely and complete information to users for use in making
informed employment decisions; and,
- To use as a basis of inquiry the subject's name, date of birth and other
numeric identifiers , as prescribed by this program.
Note: This program is available to only those users that
will directly employ the person about whom they are performing the Civil Name
Check.
Program development and implementation was a
joint effort between the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department and the
Records and Technology Division. The Program Development & Compliance Unit of
the Records Bureau manages
this program. Program staff can be reached at the following address:
